Londonski "Tulipan", prijedlog arhitektonskog rješenja za zgradu u kojoj bi trebao biti smješten novi spektakularni vidikovac s pogledom na gotovo cijeli grad, mogao bi ometati sustav za kontrolu letova zračne luke glavnog grada Engleske, piše The Guardian.

Stručnjaci iz zračne luke London City smatraju da bi tri sustava rotirajućih kabina za posjetitelje Tulipana koji se nalaze pri samom vrhu zgrade mogli zbuniti aerodromske instrumente za nadzor zračnog prometa.

Radovi na 305 metara visokoj zgradi koju je projektirao arhitekt Norman Foster iz tvrtke Foster i partneri ne mogu početi dok se ne ispita hoće li rotirajuće kabine smetati London Cityju koji se nalazi deset kilometara dalje. Foster je zamislio da se tim tri metra širokim staklenim sferoidnim kabinama posjetitelj posjetitelje vozi po fasadi zgrade kako bi mogli uživati u pogledu na London.

Osim Tulipana, Foster je projektirao i obližnji neboder St. Mary Axe, poznat po nadimku "Kiseli krastavac", te 1,3 milijardi funti vrijednog europskog sjedišta Bloomberga. Zgradu gradi Safra grupa, tvrtka kojom upravlja braziliski bankar Joseph Safra, vlasnik Kiselog krastavca kojeg je 2014. godine kupila za 726 milijuna funti.

London City, administrativna jedinica grada koja obuhvaća povijesnu jezgru engleske metropole u kojoj se nalazi većina financijskog sektora Velike Britanije, kaže da se glavno britansko tijelo za pružanje usluga zračne navigacije NATS Holdings mora očitovati o ovom pitanju jer bi mobilne gondole mogle ostavljati drukčiji trag na radaru od statičnih zgrada.

Lokalno se stanovništvo od 13. studenog, kada je arhitektonsko rješenje dano na procjenu, buni protiv ideje o gradnji Tulipana. Neki kažu da bi takav građevinski pothvat mogao narušiti kvalitetu života onih koji žive neposredno pored planirane lokacije zgrade, dok drugi dovode u pitanje estetske vrijednosti nebodera. "Možda su htjeli evocirati tulipan, međutim zgrada više podsjeća na jaje na stalku ili forceps kakav koriste ginekolozi", rekao je The Guardianov arhitektonski kritičar.
