Serbian rescue workers evacuate an elderly man from the flooded town of Obrenovac, 40 kilometers west of Belgrade, on May 18, 2014. Thousands of people crammed into boats and army trucks fled their homes in Serbia and Bosnia today after record rainfall turned the Sava river into a deadly torrent and caused the worst floods in more than a century. According to officials in both countries, the disaster has killed at least 44 people. AFP PHOTO / ALEXA STANKOVIC

Aerial shot shows, flooded area ner Northern-Bosnian town of Brcko on May 18, 2014. Rivers Sava and Brka flooded entire agricultural fields and several urban areas along their flow. Forrest streams and flash floods cause land slides carrying hundreds of cubic meters of material, further complicating both rescue and protection operations. Armed forces have been put at disposal to civillian authority as well as rescue services from neighboring Croatia and Slovenia, to aid rescue of stranded citizens in areas that have been cut off by flood.
