He is charged as one of the alleged authors of a plan to "permanently remove" Bosnian Muslims and Croats from Serb-claimed territory -- including for his role in the 44-month siege of Sarajevo that left 10,000 people dead and the July 1995 massacre of around 8,000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica. Serge Brammertz, chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the genocide case against Karadzic said on October 20, 2009 his team was confident ahead of next week's start of the trial 14 years after the first indictment. Međunarodni kazneni sud za bivšu Jugoslaviju (ICTY) otvorio je svoj kanal na YouTubeu i profil na društvenoj mreži Twitteru.

Ovim potezom sud u Haagu se nadaju pridonijeti transparentnosti pravosudnog procesa i javnosti približiti svoje aktivnosti.

Korisnici će na YouTube kanalu moći pogledati odabrane video-materijale priznanja krivnje, svjedočenja i kratke dokumentarce o Haškom sudu i njegovom djelovanju.

Kanal trenutno sadrži više od 200 video materijala na 5 jezika - engleskom, francuskom, bošnjačkom, hrvatskom i srpskom.

Putem profila na Twitteru sud planira obavještavati svoje "followere" o najnovijim događajima iz sudnica. Također, korisnici će dobivati rasporede suđenja, a u slučaju promjene termina, odmah bi bili obavješteni.

"Ovo je još jedan povijesni korak koji je Međunarodni sud poduzeo u svojim nastojanjima da osigura veću pravosudnu transparentnost i dostupnost", izjavio je tajnik ICTY-a John Hocking.
