Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo craft suffered an "anomaly" during a test flight over California on October 31, 2014, the commercial space flight operator announced on its Twitter feed. The craft, which is still in its test phase and which normally carries two pilots, had been carried aloft on a bigger aircraft known as WhiteKnightTwo and then released for a test of its rocket engine. The fate of the crew was not immediately known. "SpaceShipTwo has experienced an in-flight anomaly. Additional info and statement forthcoming," Virgin said, giving no further details. SpaceShipTwo trebao je transportirati bogate i utjecajne putnike oko 100 kilometara iznad Zemlje

Svemirska letjelica Virgin Galactica SpaceShipTwo srušila se danas u kalifornijsku pustinju Mojave zbog 'ozbiljnih anomalija', kako su to izjavili iz tvrtke.

U trenutku rušenja letjelica je bila na testiranju, a u nesreći jedan je pilot poginuo dok je drugi teško ozlijeđen. Preživjeli je helikopterom prevezen u bolnicu Antelope Valley u Lancasteru.

Testni letovi SpaceShipTwo počeli su tijekom petka poslijepodneva, a nesreća se dogodila na visini od 15 tisuća metara, samo dvije minute nakon odvajanja od rakete. Prema nekim izvorima, piloti su se uspjeli katapultirati padobranima, ali Virgin Galactic niti njihov partner Scaled Composites, za koju su piloti radili, to nisu potvrdili.
